Our Gemstones

Larimar: 

Larimar is one of the world's rarest gemstones. Every stone displays its own unique combination of blue tones, white patterns, natural matrix, inclusions, and textures, making every piece completely unique.

  • Type: Blue Pectolite
  • Origin: Dominican Republic (exclusive)
  • Color: Sky blue to deep ocean blue
  • Hardness: 4.5–5 Mohs
  • Cause of color: Trace copper substitution
  • Rarity: Found in a single mine in Barahona
  • Each stone is unique — no two are identical

Dominican Amber:

Dominican Amber is prized for its remarkable clarity and fascinating natural inclusions, making every specimen a unique piece of natural history.

  • Type: Fossilized tree resin
  • Origin: Dominican Republic
  • Age: 15–40 million years old
  • Color: Golden yellow, cognac, green, blue (rare)
  • Hardness: 2–2.5 Mohs
  • Notable for: Exceptional clarity & inclusions
  • Organic material — handle with care

Metals & Settings

We use only quality metals to complement our gemstones:

  • Sterling Silver (925): 92.5% pure silver, hallmarked and tarnish-resistant with proper care.
  • Gold-Filled: A thick layer of gold bonded to a base metal core — more durable and longer-lasting than gold plating.
  • Gold Vermeil: Sterling silver base with a thick gold coating (minimum 2.5 microns), meeting US legal standards for vermeil.
  • 14K & 18K Solid Gold: Available on select pieces for the ultimate in luxury and longevity.

Craftsmanship

Every Mauna Vibes creation is handcrafted by skilled Dominican artisans using traditional lapidary and jewelry-making techniques.

Each gemstone is individually cut, shaped, polished, and set by hand rather than mass-produced.

Because every piece is handcrafted, subtle artisan characteristics may naturally be present, including slight variations in:

  • Silver finishing
  • Polishing
  • Soldering marks
  • Stone positioning
  • Hand-set bezels
  • Backside finishing

These subtle details are not manufacturing defects but rather evidence of genuine handcrafted workmanship and traditional artisan techniques.
